Basil

Basil was born in Cantù in 1957.

He came to drawing very young, but the decisive moment was his meeting in 1972 with Professor Maffei and the master Li Muli, who passed on to their pupil the foundations of the craft: drawing, painting, sculpture and engraving techniques.

From 1980 he chose to deepen his knowledge personally and as a self-taught artist, studying the treatises on painting technique of the old masters.

His first works date back to 1978.

Since 2000 he has been present in the art world with around 40 solo exhibitions, 60 group shows and numerous critical contributions. He exhibits in Switzerland, France, the USA and Italy.

Over the years his work has been covered by several publications: Arte Mondadori, Corriere della Sera, Il Giorno, Corriere di Como, La Provincia, Città Nostra, Giornale Luce, La Città, La Città di Cantù, as well as national and international catalogues such as the Catalogo internazionale d’arte contemporanea (edizione Alba), Annuario Comed, l’Elite, Top 92, Arte nuova 96 and Apollo e Dionisio 2005.
